You are the Light of the World

Jesus Christ initially speaks the Beatitudes to His followers in the "Sermon on the Mount" before teaching them about salt and light and who would be favored by God. Christ informs them here, "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden...let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16) You continue to be the world's light even now. God wants to use you to accomplish his work on earth right now. The light is everyone who loves the Lord; it is not simply pastors and missionaries.
